Israel gives Hamas 36-hours ultimatum before starting major offensive

Israel has warned Hamas it will step up its offensive in the Gaza Strip in 36 hours if they do not cease rocket fire. Israel's Finance Minister told IDF radio the time left before Israel escalates its attacks can be measured in “hours, not days.”
"We are at a junction," said Minister Yuval Steinitz. "Either we go toward a calm or toward a meaningful widening of the operation… including a possible move to achieve complete military decision."

Israel has demanded that Hamas cease firing rockets into Israel for a period of “several years”
and that they stop the smuggling of weapons into Gaza. The conditions are part of a six-part proposal put forward by the Israeli government at negotiations with Hamas in Cairo.
In addition, the proposal asked that Israel be allowed to hunt down terrorists in the event of an attack or if it obtains information on an imminent attack.

Hamas’ official Moussa Abu Marzuk said Hamas would not accept the creation of an Israeli "security belt" in eastern Gaza.

For their part, the Palestinians have demanded the immediate lifting of the Israeli blockade on Gaza and the cessation of IDF targeted killings.
Fears of an Israeli ground offensive in Gaza have heightened following Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s announcement on Sunday that the IDF was “prepared for a significant expansion of the operation.”

Snoop Dogg wants shares in Celtic FC

Celtic’s historic home win against European giants Barcelona in the Champions League a fortnight ago has inspired American rapper Snoop Dogg who is looking to invest in the Scottish side.
Just 16 per cent of possession was enough for the reigning Scottish champions to beat the Catalan side 2-1 at Parkhead and provide them with their first defeat of the season.

Their success has not gone unnoticed stateside as Snoop Dogg has volunteered to join the board.

“I didn’t catch the whole Barcelona game but I watched the highlights. Barcelona are a big deal, and it shows Celtic are a big deal as well,” the Daily Record quotes the rapper as saying.

“I see how passionate Celtic fans are about their team and I could see myself making an investment if any of the board wanted to sell.”

Snoop Dogg has also pledged to do his best to return his friend David Beckham back to the British Isles.

“I asked my man David [Beckham] about Celtic and he was like, ‘Yeah, teams don’t come much bigger’,” he said.
“I would try and sign him up for a season but he is pretty happy over here. Never say never.”

Snoop Dogg was first linked with Celtic in 2005 when he was pictured in a Hoops top, and has never lost interest in the side since then. His favorite player now is Greek international Georgios Samaras, whom he describes as a “proper athlete” and regards the key element behind the club’s success in Europe.
After upsetting Barcelona, Celtic sit second in Group G and with two games remaining and are comfortably clear of third place Benfica and Spartak Moscow.

Israel faces 44 million attacks on websites in response to Gaza offensive

The Israeli government has become a victim of cyber-warfare attacks since Operation Pillar of Defense began four days ago. On Saturday, hacktivist group Anonymous launched a massive attack on over 700 Israeli websites.
The country’s finance minister has acknowledged the recent wave of attacks, saying the government is now waging a war on a “second front.”

Over the past four days, Israel has “deflected 44 million cyber-attacks on government websites,” Israeli Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz told AP.
Steinitz said the government has come up with a backup for “essential websites,” should they be taken down by hackers.

"This is an unprecedented attack, and our success has been greater than we anticipated," he said.
He did not say who was responsible for the hacking attempts. He also declined to disclose which countries the attacks were coming from.
His comments come just one day after hacktivist group Anonymous launched a massive attack on almost 700 Israeli websites, calling the campaign #OpIsrael.
The group took down the Israeli president’s official website and the blog of the country's Defense Force, www.idfblog.com. The collective posted the news on Twitter using their infamous #TANGO DOWN hashtag. The blog is still down.
